Prevention and health

How you live, how you eat has a strong influence on your health.

Lack of activity implies risks on your health as well as your well-being. These middle and long term effects are relayed by the media.

As prevention, WHO (World Health Organization) advises for a 30 minutes moderate but daily activity, quitting smoking and keeping a healthy diet.

ACMS (American College of Sports Medicine) recommends physical activity to prevent cardiovascular diseases as well as reducing risks of metabolic diseases (like diabetes) and muscle and bones pathologies (like osteoporosis).

What is physical activity ?

Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure.

This includes exercise as well as other activities which are done as part of playing, working, active transportation, house chores and recreational activities. (source www.who.int).
